The science behind collagen
What collagen actually is, why it is sold as hydrolyzed peptides, what the research has and has not shown, and exactly what goes into every Soft Friday scoop.
What is collagen?
Collagen is a structural protein found throughout the body, including the skin, bones, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues.
Three protein strands wind around each other into a rope-like triple helix. Bundled together, those ropes form the scaffolding that gives many tissues their structure and tensile strength.
The body builds collagen from amino acids, and vitamin C takes part in its normal production. Genetics, sun exposure, smoking, nutrition and sleep all affect it, so no supplement replaces a balanced diet or a healthy routine.
Collagen falls away slowly, then keeps falling
This is the reason collagen supplements exist at all. Skin collagen does not drop off a cliff at a particular birthday, it declines steadily across adult life.
Shuster and colleagues measured forearm skin in 148 adults aged 15 to 93 and found skin collagen density falls roughly one per cent per year through adult life, at a similar rate in men and women.
That is a population average from a 1975 study, not a promise about any one person, and not something a supplement has been shown to reverse.
What Daily Glow uses
Both flavors start with hydrolyzed collagen peptides from grass-fed bovine hide, providing collagen Types I and III.
Hydrolysis breaks collagen into shorter peptide chains, which is what makes the powder disperse into a drink instead of clumping on the surface. That is the whole reason the peptide form exists.

Where collagen peptides are being studied
Human trials have looked at hydrolyzed collagen in skin appearance and joint symptoms. Studies differ in product, dose, and duration, and results are not the same for everyone.

What “hydrolyzed” actually means
Whole collagen proteins are large. Hydrolysis is a controlled process that cuts them into much shorter chains called peptides.
After you drink it, digestive enzymes keep breaking those peptides down into smaller peptides and amino acids. Your body then draws on that pool wherever it is needed, which is why no collagen powder can direct nutrients to one particular part of you.
Know exactly what you are taking
Daily Glow is a bovine-derived dietary supplement manufactured in the USA. It is not suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets.
Store the tub somewhere cool and dry, out of direct light. Keep it out of reach of children, and do not use it if the safety seal is damaged or missing.
Check before you start
Speak with a qualified healthcare professional first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a health condition.
Read the label
The chocolate formula contains natural flavor and other ingredients beyond collagen. Unflavored contains bovine collagen peptides and nothing else.
Give it weeks, not days
Collagen is not an overnight fix. The trials that exist measure consistent use over weeks or months, and individual results vary.
